I Wish Someone Had Told Me: You Don’t Only Live Once — You Live Every Day
What I Wish Someone Had Told Me About Midlife, YOLO, and Actually Living
We’ve all heard the phrase: You Only Live Once. YOLO — the slogan of reckless abandon, last-minute trips, bold tattoos, or dramatic decisions made in the name of “living.”
But now, in midlife?
That phrase doesn’t sit quite right.
And here's what I wish someone had told me much earlier:
You don’t only live once. You live every single day. You only die once.
That one truth flipped everything for me.
Because for too long, YOLO made it seem like life was a one-shot deal — a race to pack in the wildest experiences before time ran out. But real life isn’t one big moment. It’s made of thousands of small ones.
And if you’re anything like me — a woman somewhere in the middle of life — you know how easy it is to delay your own living.
